Christopher Ellis

Irish cellist Christopher Ellis enjoys an international multi-faceted career as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician. As a soloist Christopher has performed with the Irish Chamber Orchestra at Cellissimo Festival, and at festivals such as Via Aeterna France, the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, Dublin International Chamber Music Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival. As a chamber musician he has performed at festivals including Yellow Barn, the Clandeboye Festival, Killaloe Festival and Théâtre de la Ville Paris, and enjoys working with the contemporary chamber ensembles Loop38 and Musiqa.

Christopher is a member of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in Houston, Texas, and has enjoyed working with the Los Angeles-based ensemble Delirium Musicum. A recent highlight was performing as Guest Principal Cello with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

Christopher plays on a C. A. Testore cello made in 1764, generously loaned to him by his former teacher and mentor Aisling Drury Byrne. Christopher is supported by Music Network’s Music Capital Scheme, funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport. Music Network is funded by The Arts Council.
