American composer-violinist Hannah Ishizaki, the first composer awarded Juilliard's Kovner Fellowship, now at Princeton, and the youngest woman ever to have a work premiered by the Pittsburgh Symphony, writes from a string player's hands as much as a composer's mind. Float/shake, written in 2023 for the New York trio Longleash, does what it says: textures hover weightlessly, then judder to life, pairing fragile luminosity with the sheer physical athleticism of live performance.
