Milesian
Milesian is a chef-led restaurant in a cottage on Main Street that is roughly two hundred years old, and it is the most ambitious cooking in the village. The chef-proprietor is Frankie Fitzgerald. The room has been left alone rather than styled: whitewashed stone, sash windows, an open fire, old photographs and newspaper cuttings under glass on the tables. When the Irish Examiner reviewed it in 2022 the phrase was rustic and homely, and entirely authentic rather than twee.
The menu is very short, around three choices a course, and it moves with the season. RTÉ, visiting in May 2026, called it West Kerry on a plate and noted the foraged herbs. Dishes that have come through the kitchen include cod brandade, shredded duck tacos, lobster on potato cakes, cured trout with nori, Kerry lamb wontons, cod in dashi butter, and Skeaghanore duck with artichoke and grilled leeks.
It is a summer operation. The season runs from late April or May to the end of September and the restaurant closes for the winter, every year.
On the menu
No menu is published online. What is published is the shape and the price: two or three courses, with roughly three choices at each. RTÉ gave the 2026 price as forty-five to fifty euro. Diners in 2025 reported forty euro for two courses and forty-five for three, and the Irish Examiner had it at thirty-five and forty in 2022, so the direction of travel is clear and the RTÉ figure is the one to plan around.
