Accommodation
Where to stay in Castlegregory and the Maharees
Book early. That is the whole of the advice, and it is not a figure of speech. There is no hotel anywhere on this coast. Dingle Peninsula Tourism's hotel and guesthouse listings cover eight properties for the entire peninsula and every one of them is in Dingle town. Its bed and breakfast directory does not list Castlegregory, the Maharees, Stradbally, Camp, Cloghane or Brandon at all. The official Cloghane and Brandon community site lists three places to stay for that whole area.
What exists instead is a large number of small, privately let self-catering houses and cottages, most with no booking engine, many with only a mobile number or an email address. The Castlegregory community site, which carries most of them, says plainly that accommodation must be booked directly with the host and that it is not a booking agency. Several properties have minimum stays in peak season; one Cloghane cottage requires a full week in high season.
The Dingle Way's own guidance for this village is worth repeating: with Féile Lúghnasa at the end of July and the Brandon Regatta on one of the last Sundays in August, anyone passing through in those periods should secure accommodation well in advance.

If the coast is full
Tralee is about half an hour away and has the county's largest stock of beds, plus the railway station. Dingle town is about half an hour by the Conor Pass or an hour the long way round. Woodlands Park in Tralee is the nearest campsite once Green Acres and O'Connor's are full, about thirteen miles out.
The Castlegregory Visitor Information Centre at Tailor's Row keeps the local listings: 066 713 9422, castleinfocenter@gmail.com. For Cloghane and Brandon, the community office is on 066 713 8137.
