The Caher road and the footbridge
This is the walk to do when you have an hour. Head east out of the village along the Caher road, which runs out through the low ground between Castlegregory and Lough Gill into the townland of Caher, An Chathair, the stone fort.
At the very end of the road there is a footbridge, known locally as the troll bridge. Cross it and you are on the Tralee Bay strand, on the sheltered side of the peninsula, with the Slieve Mish behind you and the whole run of the bay ahead.
It is flat the whole way and the road is quiet, which makes it the easiest walk out of the village with a real destination at the end of it.

Good to know
The Tralee Bay side is the sheltered one and there are no lifeguards anywhere along it. If you want supervised swimming, go to Magherabeg.
